Transfer Policy & Procedures
Transferring between courses or modes of study within CSM Academy International.
Course Transfer Policy
Definition of Course Transfer
A Course Transfer refers to a student transferring from one course or programme to another within CSM Academy International. This may also include changes to the mode of study (e.g., Full-time to Part-time) or other approved amendments to the student’s programme of study.
Where a Course Transfer is approved, the existing PEI-Student Contract will be terminated and replaced with a new Student Contract for the revised course or programme.
Approval Process
- All Course Transfer requests will be reviewed and processed within four (4) weeks from the date a complete application is received.
- Students will be informed of the outcome in writing.
- Approval of a transfer request is subject to meeting the entry requirements, course availability, and the approval of the relevant Academic Department.
Fees & Refunds
All Course Transfer requests are subject to CSM Academy International’s Refund Policy and the terms of the signed PEI-Student Contract.
Where applicable:
- Refunds will be calculated in accordance with the Refund Policy and Student Contract.
- Additional course fees may apply if the new programme has a higher tuition fee.
- Any outstanding fees must be settled before the transfer can be finalised.
Student’s Pass (International Students)
Where applicable, CSM Academy International will notify the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of any approved changes affecting an international student’s course of study.
Depending on ICA requirements, the existing Student’s Pass may need to be cancelled and a new Student’s Pass application submitted. Approval of the Student’s Pass remains solely at the discretion of ICA.
Students Below 18 Years of Age
For students who are below 18 years old, written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required before a Course Transfer request can be processed or approved.
Course Transfer Procedure
Submission of Request
Students wishing to transfer to another course must submit a completed Course Transfer Request Form and any supporting documents required by CSM Academy International. Students below 18 years of age must also obtain the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the request form.
Pre-Transfer Counselling
Upon receiving the request, CSM Academy International’s Student Services or Academic Team will conduct pre-transfer counselling to ensure the student understands the implications of the transfer.
- Course structure and learning outcomes
- Entry requirements
- Course duration
- Class schedules
- Tuition fees and miscellaneous fees
- Funding eligibility (where applicable)
- Student Pass implications for international students
Assessment & Approval
The Course Transfer request will be reviewed by the relevant Academic Department. Approval is subject to meeting the admission requirements of the new course, availability of vacancies, academic suitability, and compliance with CSM Academy International’s academic and administrative policies.
Where the transfer is approved, the existing Student Contract will be terminated and a new PEI-Student Contract will be executed for the new course.
Notification to Relevant Authorities
Where required, CSM Academy International will notify the relevant authorities and stakeholders of the approved transfer.
- Notification to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
- Cancellation and/or submission of a new Student’s Pass application where applicable
- Notification to the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) provider and other relevant agencies where required
Processing Timeline
CSM Academy International aims to complete the Course Transfer process within four (4) weeks from the receipt of a complete application and all supporting documents.
Refund or Fee Adjustment
Following approval of the Course Transfer, CSM Academy International will determine whether a refund is payable, additional fees are required, or no fee adjustment is necessary. Any applicable refund will be processed in accordance with the Refund Policy, the PEI-Student Contract, and prevailing regulatory requirements.
