The Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management gives you the best possible start to your career in the industry. Developed based on market surveys, it provides the necessary academic knowledge and practical skills for a successful career in tourism and hospitality.

The program combines classroom learning with a 6-month industrial attachment, ensuring graduates are job-ready and capable of handling operational roles in hotels, resorts, and other hospitality establishments.

Curriculum

The course structure is designed to provide necessary knowledge skills through 6 modules and an industrial attachment.

Course Modules & Synopsis

1. Food & Beverage Operations Equips students to recognize food products, menus, and service styles. Covers food handling, personal hygiene, and beverage service (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), including mixing procedures and stock control.

2. Front Office Operations Fundamental knowledge of Front Office principles, reservations, reception, cashiering, and yield management. Prepares students for complex analysis in later courses.

3. Housekeeping Operations Skills for general housekeeping, preparing rooms, laundry operations, and valet/butler services. Includes stock control and ordering procedures.

4. Introduction in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry Basic knowledge of tourism theories, concepts, and components (transportation, lodging, travel agents). Discusses travel motivation, behavior, and tourism planning.

5. Principles of Quality Service in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Industry Manage customer service quality. Focuses on pro-active approaches to service quality issues and implementing customer-focused service strategies.

6. Sales & Marketing in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Basic knowledge of Sales, Marketing, and Personal Selling. Essential operations and marketing information to drive sales and promote products/services.

7. Industrial Attachment (6 months)


Entry Requirements

Minimum Academic Requirements

  • GCE ‘O’ Level with at least a C6 pass in any three subjects; OR
  • Mature Candidates: Age 30 and above with 8 years of working experience.

English Language Requirement

  • At least a C6 pass at GCE ‘O’ Level; OR
  • Pass in CSM’s English Placement Test.

Assessment & Graduation

Assessment Methodology

Assessments include examinations, assignments, projects, and industrial attachment.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, a student must:

  • Pass all 6 modules (minimum grade 50%).
  • Complete the 6-month Industrial Attachment or Project work.
  • Local Students: Achieve an attendance of 75%.
  • International Students: Achieve an attendance of 90%.

Upon successful completion, the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management will be conferred by CSM Academy International.
