The University of Dundee is setting up a new nursing course in Singapore that will award degree-level qualifications to hundreds of registered nurses a year.

The course will begin in September and offer a combination of in-country and online education for Singaporean nurses looking to “top up” their diploma to degree level.

“This is a blended programme of face to face and online learning”

Dundee’s BSc Nursing and Health degree course will be offered in partnership with CSM Academy International, a private education institute based in the South East Asian city state.

Professor Lynn Kilbride, dean of the school of nursing and health sciences at Dundee, said the collaboration would offer Dundee’s nursing degree to “a new audience”.

“The BSC Nursing and Health programme we will be delivering has been tailored specifically for Singapore and will ensure nurses are fully equipped to meet the challenges of their healthcare system,” she said.

“This is a blended programme of face to face and online learning and will involve our staff from Dundee working in Singapore at key points on the programme,” she added.

Lynn Chow, CSM’s founder and chief executive, said the academy was “honoured” to be partnering with the University of Dundee.

“This specially designed nursing degree, accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board, will make a difference in advancing the capabilities of our nurses in Singapore,” she said.

The first intake of students will start in September with the next cohort beginning in May 2019. After this there will be three intakes per year – September, January and May
