WSQ Life Support for Healthcare Assistance module provides learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver effective basic life support in real-life situations. It combines scenario-based learning and hands-on practice to enhance understanding and application of life support techniques. This approach helps learners develop critical thinking and practical abilities, ensuring they can respond effectively to emergencies and provide essential care in various healthcare contexts.

Module 2: WSQ Infection Control in Nursing Practice (Blended)

The WSQ Infection Control in Nursing Practice module equips learners with essential knowledge and practical skills to prevent and manage infections in healthcare settings. It covers medical terminologies, infection prevention policies, hand hygiene, and the use of personal protective equipment. Learners will practice disinfection and sterilisation techniques, waste management, and transmission-based precautions. Additionally, they will gain the ability to educate patients and caregivers on infection control, ensuring safer environments for both healthcare workers and clients. The module follows a structured, step-by-step approach to build a strong foundation and progressively integrate knowledge into practical, real-world applications.

Module 3: WSQ Professional Legal and Ethical Healthcare Practice (Face-to-face)

The WSQ Professional Legal and Ethical Healthcare Practice module equips learners with the knowledge and skills to uphold professional, legal, and ethical standards in healthcare. The foundational principles of legal and ethical frameworks, personal accountability, and organisational codes of conduct. Learners will also gain practical understanding of the Personal Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality, develop ethical behaviours, and learn to identify and report workplace misconduct. Module 4: The WSQ Mobility and Ambulation Assistance (Face-to-face)

The WSQ Mobility and Ambulation Assistance module provides learners with the essential knowledge and skills to assist patients safely and effectively with mobility and ambulation. Learners build a strong foundation by mastering fall risk assessment and prevention strategies before progressing to proper body mechanics to prevent self-injury. They then learn to assess and prepare patients and environments for safe mobility, including the use of aids and devices, before culminating in the practical application of safe lifting, transferring, and positioning techniques. This structured progression ensures competence and confidence in providing safe patient care.

Module 5: WSQ Provide Oral Feeding Assistance (Face-to-face)

The WSQ Provide Oral Feeding Assistance module equips learners with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively assist patients with oral feeding. Learners begin with foundational knowledge of diets, nutritional supplements, and the use of thickeners. They then progress to practical skills, including proper food handling, patient positioning, and managing complications such as choking. Finally, learners focus on accurate documentation of intake and output and reporting abnormalities. This structured approach reinforces learning at each stage, ensuring a holistic understanding and the ability to apply skills confidently in real-life healthcare scenarios.

Module 6: WSQ Patient Care Delivery for Support Care (Face-to-face)

The WSQ Patient Care Delivery for Support Care module equips learners with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to deliver effective patient care in various healthcare settings. The course begins with foundational understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and basic patient needs. It progresses to infection prevention, patient assessment, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and concludes with clinical administrative tasks such as admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Each stage builds on prior knowledge, ensuring learners gain confidence and competence in delivering patient-centred care while adhering to organisational standards and practices.

STEP 1
Fill up the following online forms • Application Form – CSM Academy International Pte Ltd • ICA Form 16 and Form V36 – applicable only for International Students (complete in English and duly signed by applicant)

Attach the following documents:

  • A copy of passport-size photograph with white background
  • A copy of NRIC (for Singaporeans and PR)
  • A copy of passport – applicable only for International Students (must have at least 1 year validity)
  • A copy of birth certificate – applicable only for International Students. Bring the original documents for the above items
  • Notarised/Certified true copies of all your educational transcripts and completion certificates
  • All documents need to be translated in English and submitted along with the original documents

STEP 3
Offer by the School
Upon receipt of your completed application, you will be notified of the outcome of your application within 2 weeks. Successful applicants will receive electronic version of Letter of Offer and terms and conditions page if any.

STEP 4

Application of Student Pass – Only applicable for International Students (Skip this step for local Students)

Upon approval of your application, CSM Academy will proceed to submit your Student’s Pass application via SOLAR + to Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA. You will be notified of the outcome within 6 weeks.

STEP 5
Payment of Programme Fees
For Local Students – You will be required to bring the original certificates for verification, sign the student contract and make course payments.

For International Students – Once your Student Pass application is approved-in-principle by ICA, you will be required to bring the original certificates for verification and to sign the student contract, followed by course fee payment. Learn in greater detail about the range of currently established quality improvement methodologies and the context used and identify the strengths and limitations of each method and the potential impact of these.

Leadership in Practice

This module aims to enable students to explore leadership theories and styles and develop leadership skills, through critical reflection on theory and practice. Students will explore various leadership theories and techniques as they relate to their area of practice.

They will develop an understanding of the impact of organizational structure and culture on approaches to leadership and consider these in the context of their clinical setting. Students will also focus on the administrative, conceptual and interpersonal skills required for effective leadership, using this approach to identify their own leadership needs.

Contemporary Practice in Palliative Care

This module (a core part of Bachelor of Science in Nursing) enhances students’ knowledge of societal, national, cultural & professional attitudes to death and dying.

We are equipping students with skills to enable them to provide a human-centered approach to palliative & end of life care for patients. The module will explore how early identification of palliative care needs can ensure holistic person-centered care across hospital and community settings.

Students will examine strategies to help identify those who require or would benefit from a palliative approach to their care. Students are to participate and reflect on conversations about death and dying.

Learn how to recognize how this may impact patients and their families. This module will also explore advanced care planning and its necessity for a person-centered approach to palliative and end-of-life care.

Understanding Research and Statistics

This module enables students to develop an understanding of evidence-based practice, qualitative research approaches, quantitative research methods, and statistics to address health priorities in Singapore.

Develop a further understanding of research, how it is quality assessed and how to implement it as an evidence-based practice. Consideration of the way that quantitative and qualitative research design will help students to see the link between the health priorities of Singapore and research.

The research ethics and professional considerations in this module form part of this module as the protection of people is a crucial aim in all nursing and healthcare research.

Health and Physical Assessment

This module equips students with knowledge and skills in health and physical assessment of the body systems in the deteriorating adult. It includes a holistic approach, incorporating a structured physical evaluation of the unwell client.

This module also presents acutely or with a long-term health condition, and consideration of the mental health and well-being impact of this.

Life expectancy in Singapore continues to rise with 13% of the resident population aged over 65. Upskilling nurses can offset the increasing needs of the changing community by preparing them for the future needs of the healthcare population across a range of health settings.

Healthcare Ethics and Law

This module aims to extend students’ understanding of fundamental concepts in healthcare ethics, including how they are applied in practice, and support students understanding of the legal implications of their professional practice.

Assisting graduate nurses in becoming proficient in ethical decision making within the multidisciplinary team, working within a pluralistic health society, and providing essential tools to assist in making ethical and legal, clinical decisions. Registered nurses in Singapore are facing an increasing number of ethical dilemmas in clinical practice, due to the advances in healthcare science, and the multi-ethnic, multicultural, and multi-religious nature of society. This module along with other modules is offered as part of the BSc in Nursing & Health to students in Singapore.

Managing the Complexities of Older People’s Healthcare

This module enables students to develop the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills in promoting successful aging and enhance the healthcare experiences of older people with complex co-existing physical, mental health, and social needs across the healthcare sector.

Students are to ensure that the needs of Singapore’s older people meet inappropriate care settings. The module develops nurses’ capacity to implement therapeutic interventions for older people across the healthcare sector landscape. Globally, people are living longer with an increased risk of developing co-existing conditions associated with aging.

Health care responses in Singapore encourage healthy aging, enhancing geriatric capability in hospitals and community settings, and improving services to support older people in their communities. This module enables nursing students to develop their understanding and knowledge of optimum healthcare delivery for older people.

SkillsFuture Credit Information

  1. Submit SkillsFuture claim 60 days before commencement of the programme, or at the start of the course (w.e.f 21 April 2017). According to SkillsFuture SG, this window period is sufficient for individuals to make claims to facilitate earlier programme registration.
  2. Inform the Programme Consultant on the usage of SkillsFuture Credit and advise the appropriate amount to be offset against the qualifying programme fees.
  3. Submit the claim via the SkillsFuture Credit Portal for the appropriate amount to be paid to CSM Academy International for your registered programme.
