Course Commencement

Minimum of 15 registered students to commence.
Students will be informed two weeks before the start of class.

Delivery of the course will have a combination of classroom lectures, tutorials, online & practicals.

Assignments, assessment tasks, portfolios, practicals, workshop activities & project work

Note:

In case students fail the main examination of a particular module, they are allowed to sit for ‘One’ supplement assessment with payment of the appropriate fee*.

Students are to re-take the module, shall they fail the supplementary assessment. Modules are independent of each other.

Students must complete and pass 9 modules to be awarded the Diploma in Digital Media/Advanced Diploma in Digital Mediaconferred by CSM Academy International Pte Ltd.

Local students must achieve an attendance of 75% and international students must achieve an attendance of 90% in any month of the course.

The Business of Digital Media

This module is an introduction to digital media and is designed to expose students to the myriad of digital media elements existing in present market conditions. It focuses on enabling students to understand the critical success factors digital media can be designed to achieve in the areas of business development, marketing and enhancing relationships with stakeholders.

Interactive Media Development

Interactive Media Development is a foundational skill that is required by any media artist to put thought onto paper. This module trains students to observe both form and action with an object, in relation to its surrounding space.

Digital Imaging

This module aims to develop a detailed understanding of digital imaging and painting, suitable for media application. It covers elements of digital painting, photo manipulation as well as compositing to ensure each student is fully capable of capturing, creating and publishing a portfolio of digital art.

2D Animation

This module teaches the student principles of animation and its applications using flash software. This is to support students in producing interactive websites and games while keeping to the traditional principles of squash and stretch etc to bring about believability and life to their work.

Storyboarding

This module focuses on the visual development of concepts, which are then put into narrative forms. It teaches the students key points of mise en- scene, camera work, colour moods, character and layout design, as well as the actual planning and composition of shots.

Principles of Design

This module covers the basics of graphic design, layout and typography. Upon successful completion of the module, students will be familiar with the essential concepts and techniques of design, typography and its relevant uses in digital media. There is a key focus on type as image and the relationship between visual and verbal language. Typographic terminology, history, technical issues related to typography will also be examined.

Foundation 3D

This section aims to train the media artist on the essentials in 3D creation and animation using Maya. The key areas of focus are on creating 3D text, modelling lighting, rendering and basic camera work. The end result is a fully rendered digital space or object that is believable and fully usable for a 3D animated scene.

Sound Design

This module aims to give the media artist the necessary practical and technical tools to record and/or craft audio, music and sound elements to enhance or work as a stand-alone in his/her media project.

Digital Video

Ease of access to digital video has brought about overnight sensations and internet superstars on online channels such as YouTube and the likes. This module identifies this powerful medium and attempts to enable students with the ability to plan, develop and create their own mini productions. It enriches the individuals with basic pre to post-production skills necessary to become the next big thing.

The course structure is designed to provide passionate aspiring artists with the necessary skills and tools in order to become:

  • Production assistants (Animation and Video Pipeline)
  • 3D Artist Assistants (Modelling/Texture/Lighting)
  • Storyboard Artists
  • Web Designers
  • Social Media Marketers
  • Video Generalists (Editors/Sound Tech/Camera Operators)
  • GCE A-Level with at least 3 passes of equivalent or GCE ‘O’ Level holder with a minimum age of 30 at the point of application and 8 years of working experience.

English Language Requirement:
  • GCE ‘A’ Level pass in English or equivalent.

  • Under Edutrust Certificate Scheme stipulated by Committee for Private Education (CPE), the student’s fee must be protected.

  • Local and International Students are to purchase medical insurance valid throughout their course of studies with CSM Academy International.
